Whewh!! ! It's hot!
I've just been on our first safari in the holiday I won through this magazine. You can check out some pictures on my website.

This term we are doing our whole school production, The River. I have the part of Professor Owl, who has the longest speech in the play, and my friend Jordan is the Owl's assistant. There are heaps of songs in the play that I also have to memorise. I think the pressure of that is equivalent to sweltering African heat! The production is about a group of children who, when the river stops running, journey upstream to find out why. Come to the production in Week 8 at St Matthews hall to find out more!!!!!!!

Another exciting event this term is our One Day Centre sharing evening. I have to present a display board all about Graphic Design. I have started researching to prepare for the night.

Hi everyone.A lot is happening this term,and everyone is busy working for our school production. This is my character: Keruru/wood pigeon.I am doing a lot to get prepared.I have just recently finished the pepier mache.We have to learn our lines off by heart,but I already know my lines because I only have 5 lines!The production is called the river.

We have been singing heaps of songs off-by-heart like "Yesterday tomorrow" and "Just one earth".
We are having lots of fun practicing for the production,and in week 8,we are doing a dress rehearsal.It will be lots of fun,and a little hard to memorise all the songs from the production.

We are learning to link our handwriting, write narratives and write paragraphs.

My Guinea pig Coco gave birth to twins.The black one with spots of tan is called Patches, and the brown one is called Lulu.They are both girls,and about a month old.They are starting to eat solids like guinea pig mix.We had to split up the boys and girls,beacause mum and dad don't want any more guinea pigs.

Hi everyone on Tuesday the 27Th of July 2010 the senior syndicate went to Lake view for the winter music festival. My favourite part was the rock band they sang battlefield & simply the best that was my favourite part.

Hello,

We have just entered Term 3 and it is very exciting. I have a part in a play by the Master ton Little Theatre, there is a school production this term and the One Day Centre has a sharing evening which we all have to have a presentation for.
Term 3 is just like an extra term in which we throw all the potential Term 4 pressure so that Term 4 isn't too stressful- if you know what I mean.

It is also getting warmer and lighter as summer draws nearer. It was a nice winter and this stage is just nice because you get frost in the morning but a really warm day.

Thank you for your letter. Do you visit Turkey regularly? Ho do you know about the pool and other features? Can you read the future- how do you know its going to be 48º?

Hi Rachael it's madison here just saying hi haveyou been busy in the holiday's I saw my cousin she turned 6 years old her name is charlotte I also saw my aunty unfortunatly I fell over and hurt my ankle it is still sore.
I wen't to the zoo and axidently took a picture of the giraffes nose after that we wen't to see the hyenas but my mum got scared of them so we wen't to see the meercats my si ster thought that they were very cool.

In the holidays I had my birthday and turned 10! We went up to Ohakune for it.My grandma shouted me and my mum and sister skiing on the mountain. We had to get on the chairlift to go up to the top. When we got up I straight away fell over.After we had about 3hours of skiing I went to have my skiing lessons. I learnt how to stop doing something called pizza and to move doing french fries. After I we had been skiing I went back to my grandmas to open the rest of my presents. When I got back I had to go to my friends birthday party and we stayed up all night and never went to sleep.We just stayed up and watched cool movies all night.

In the holidays I went to a farm out Opaki that we might buy. It has six and a half archers a big swamp a huge avery for chickens when we went in the avery there were two pigens and a dead rat. There was another door into another part of the avery I went in there with my friend sophie there were heaps of old eggs there is a dog kennel with bones in it. we had an open home at our house two parties went through.

Hi Ciaran.It's Annaliese here.Thanks 4 the letter I really liked it.On the 12th of july my guinea pig had 2 baby guinea pigs.They are both girls and are a week old.One I called patches beacause she is black with a bit of tan.The other guinea pig I haven't named yet,but she is mainly brown with streaks of black.We are going to sell them in 6 weeks to my friends.Did you know that guinea pigs are born with their eyes open,a full coat and a full set of teeth?I read it from a guinea pig book I got out from the library.Also guinea pigs can eat strawberries aparently.I haven't tried it yet but I don't really want to try it just in case they really can't.I also went to see toy story 3 in 3d.It was really cool and my favorite character was Jessie.I like Justin bieber too and I have My world 2.0 cd.I wan't to see cats and dogs 2 "the revenge of kitty galore" ever after movie but i'm not sure if i'm allowed to watch it.Bye 4 now,Annaliese.

We are all following the World Cup as New Zealand made it there for the only the second time (last time was 1982). They are playing their final pool game against Paraguay at 2am Friday morning , our time. We are hopeful but realistic, a win will take us into the next round. We have been having a very exciting term at Solway Primary School. Recently, a group of students went to the interschool cross-country. Only two people made it to regionals though.

Hi there Fardeen, how are you going its almost the end of term 2 2010. the weather over here is so bad that we are getting thunderstorms and big floods over in the south island. I am moving out of myhouse soon.I dont have a clue what we are doing this holiday!!!! so what have you been doing latley? what are you doing this holiday? There have been snow storms in the north island and the south and we had a hail storm the other day. everyone in my class jumped up and said hay theres a hail storm outside. we have been having bad frosts in the mornig for the past few weeks now it is not nice. i have to put on a sweat suirt every mornig. finnaley the sun comes up for the first time!!!

Did you know during the holidays we have gotten a new playground! It has got a slide, monkey bars a flying fox and monkey chains! We have also got a new fort in the plantation.the plantation is just lots of hills and tyres to run on.

Sorry we haven't been keeping in touch but MR Hornby's away sick from the start of term and hes scheduled to arrive back in Week 7.

We have recently had our school folk dancing competition, where we compete in our house groups and perform several traditional dances. The winner was Waingawa house (the house Mr Hornby's in charge of).

We are also training for cross- country where we will run around a set track to find the best runners in the school who will then go on to the interschool tournament and compete against the best from other schools in Masterton.

Another thing thats happening is the 40 Hour Famine, which is run by World Vision where you have to sacrifice something you en joy for 40 hours and get sponsored for it. The money goes to World Vision to help them. I am doing the no technology famine. To find out more, click here.

Yesterday we arrived in Auckland at the train scheduled time of 7:20pm . It felt like an Overnight train because it started getting dark at about 5:30. We packed our own lunch but for tea I had a "Great Railway Pie" from the buffet car. We were in Carriage C, which was the closest carriage to the engine but was slightly older than A and B which weret the back. Carriage A had a big window at the back with a table and couches and I played chess with this other kid. We had three crews that swapped when we met the southbound Overlander. Our first crew got on at Wellington, the second at National Park, and the third at Hamilton. At lunch we stopped for 25 minutes at Ohakune. When we arrived it was amazing. The train passed through the centre of Auckland and the lights were spectacular !!! We also went past a place where you could see the Skyline with the lights reflecting on the water !!!!! Here's some pics of our journey.

Tommorow morning we're taking the 'Overlander'(a rail link from Wellington to Auckland), to Auckland. It takes about 9 hours leaving from Palmerston North (where we are leaving from).

We're staying with friends and we're going to pick up a car that we bought on the internet.

When we are there I will hopefully take some pictures and do a blog (we are not taking a laptop).

The storm was so scary!! i thought that my gum trees at my house were going to blow down you couldn't belive what it was like.
