Yesterday we arrived in Auckland at the train scheduled time of 7:20pm . It felt like an Overnight train because it started getting dark at about 5:30. We packed our own lunch but for tea I had a "Great Railway Pie" from the buffet car. We were in Carriage C, which was the closest carriage to the engine but was slightly older than A and B which weret the back. Carriage A had a big window at the back with a table and couches and I played chess with this other kid. We had three crews that swapped when we met the southbound Overlander. Our first crew got on at Wellington, the second at National Park, and the third at Hamilton. At lunch we stopped for 25 minutes at Ohakune. When we arrived it was amazing. The train passed through the centre of Auckland and the lights were spectacular !!! We also went past a place where you could see the Skyline with the lights reflecting on the water !!!!! Here's some pics of our journey.
