Swimming Sports

Hello everyone
Tomorrow, Friday the whole school is going to the town swimming pool for swimming sports and a family picnic. The top swimmers will be chosen to compete in the inter-school swimming sports. On Monday we are going to Wellington on the train and visiting the Beehive, which is the name of the offices where our politicians work. Hi there Fardeen, how are you? on Wednesday last week the year sixes went on camp to Sixtus lodge out by Feilding. when we got to sixtus lodge,we
went inside to unpack our stuff and have lunch. on that night we went to the glowworm cave to take a look. After that we had supper and went to bed.
on that day we went for a walk to another lodgeand had lunch up hill,down hill and over the big bridge and back to the cars to go back to sixtus lodge.when we got back to the camp site
i had a big shower. on that night we had soup an lots more for tea and went for ele watching. on the last day we packed our bags and went to the feilding pools.
after that we started heading back to solway school and got picked up to go home.

Hi, I had a doble header hockey game, we lost to MIS (Masterton Intermediate school) 5 to 4 witch was a bit of a dissarpointmeant but we won to martonburrer 6 to 1 witch is great. I think my team could have played better but we got a good resalt. I made it into the under 11 waiarapar hockey team when I was eight and I want to try and get in again. It was fun . I went to napiare for a tornament. My team came forth in the over all reasalt.

Hi Emma, I went on camp with year 6 to Sixtus Lodge. We stayed for two nights and saw glowworms and we walked in the bush and went in caves. We helped in the kitchen with meals and played games like guess who and spotlight. We had great fun.

At lunchtime I was sliding out the side of trees with my friends Mitchell,David and Karl,we got heps of scratches on our arm's and legs,they really hurt.today we went swimming we got a free swim as well. On Friday my friend Judah came to my house we went in my swimming pool it's not that big it's only a round pool but stall we can jump in.me and my brother where playing wresting it was really fun. On Sunday we where play on computer and PlayStation all day.in my swimming pool my brother's were being supped they were hitting each other on the bottom we also had a competition who could hold there breath the longest I came last, my older brother Rheuben came first and my other brother Caleb came second. The games I Played on the PlayStation were MX vs ATV that is a motocross game the other game i play was teaken5 it is easy on arcade Battle.on story Battle it is harder then arcade Battle.

Hi Cameron I'm looking forward to get reply from you. I've been at camp and it was really fun. On the first day we went to heritage lodge it was very cold but that night we went to the glow worm cave. the next day we went all the way through to a slit in the glow worm caves then we went through the slit.

Hi again what have you been doing on your one week holiday? I have been to a aqua jets club night and got four pb's this is a swim club event (personal bests). I have also been doing road patrol for the year sixes last week.Also I have been to a concert called the winery tour I went right up into where you cant go any further with my friend Mitchell now I know my names Mitchell but my friend Mitchell lives up my street.On Saturday I played softball and we won 183 to 156. also on Saturday it was my cousins birthday and we had it at my grandpas house and I jumped of his ten metre high diving board fifteen times. On Sunday my friend Ethan came to my house we went into my swimming pool two times and played on my computer. after my club night my family went in my swimming pool for an hour and had swimming races I won two of three races and also we had a play swim and I swam one hole length of my pool without breathing today I fell out of a tree about ten times and stuffed up my left arm the people doing it with me were Thomas Ethan Karl and David.on Friday I have got our school swimming sports I am entered in the two lengths freestyle two lengths backstroke two lengths breaststroke and one length butterfly also on that same day we have got our school picnic

Hi Elrick,
We have just got back from camp (yesterday) and are settling back in to normal life. We took infinite multi-media recording devices so Mr Hornby will make those accessible. We stayed at Sixtus Lodge in the Ruahine Ranges, just north of Feilding.
On the way to the first walk we did the car I was travelling in broke down. Today we found out it was a problem with the cam belt.
We had a Graffiti board too, which was like a big scrapbook to write down things that we liked at Camp (a new sheet of paper came up each day so that the boards wouldn't get crowded).
We also had a "Secret Buddy" system where each day you pick a name from the box and have to do nice things to that person for the day- if you don't guess the person who is being nice to you, the buddies are announced at the end of the day. All I did for my secret buddies was write a not on the Graffiti Board !!!!!

Thanks so much for your amazing photos and messages. Sorry for taking so long to reply. We have just holidays-the children had a full week off but the teachers had two In Service days.

The snow has returned but just a little. Did we tell you the schools were all closed in Aberdeenshire for almost a week at the beginning of term due to lots of snow?

We are learning about electricity and had a fantastic workshop with a Science expert today. We also found out about using solar cells to turn a propellor. The children will be writing instructions next week with their other teacher, Mrs Carter, on creating a circuit using wires, a battery and lightbulb. If it's ok with you we thought you could peer assess them on google docs the following week? We will add criteria so you can give them feedback. No rush for this if you're busy and it will take a while for us to get them sent.

New close up photos were taken today so we will send them soon.

We are also busy preparing for our assembly 'Celebration of Skills' on March 4th. The children can explain what they're doing in their individual replies. The following week we are inviting our parents in to partipate in a maths workshop.

Right, this is the last post I will do today. I just wanted to share with you anoter amazing thing about my holiday; The Auckland Skyline.

I just read Mr Hornby's blog "it is named after the great Kauri tree that grows north of Auckland (AKA Northland). That is where we went on holiday. The name of the forest is the Waipoua Kauri Forest, and even the tree has a name, Tane Mahuta.

You have to walk up a track
to get to Tane. Next up is the Kauri Gum (that red stuff).

Kauri 2010

Our classroom is named after the mighty Kauri tree which grows north of Auckland, they are large trees and many were cut down to build houses when the Europeans first came to New Zealand. Here is a picture of our new class this year. We also have a teacher aide called Maureen in our class this year.

Hello everyone in Scotland. We have been back at school this week since Tuesday. You will all have new buddies. They look forward to finding out all about you, your families, what you are interested in and some of the fun things that you do at school. For the first 5 weeks of school our pool is open. It is outside so sometimes it can be cold, depending on the weather. (it is not heated although we have a cover which does keep in the warmth, It is not on the pool at the moment, I'm not sure why)
Here is a picture of some children having a lunchtime free swim, which we have when it is a hot day, it was 25 c today, so Mr Simons took a lunchtime swim. We also have swimming lessons each day taken by our teachers, in week 4 we'll have swimming sports in the town pool. The top swimmers will represent the school at the inter-school sports.We all look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Callum,
We have just started school (3 days ago) and are getting settled into school again. We are doing swimming at the school pool which has just opened as well (as opposed to closed, which it was a couple of weeks ago). When is your next holiday? Do you get swimming anywhere with your school?
I am staying in Mr Hornby's class but everyone else has gone to Kahikatea or MIS.
